Welcome to the Secret Garden South of Bobber's Mill Bridge in Nottingham

Welcome to Windmill Community Gardens, home of the Climate Friendly Gardeners Project.

We are a group of local people, who are nurturing a wonderful community garden in the heart of the city. You'll find us just South of Bobbersmill Bridge, on the allotment site at the South end of Ascot Road. The Gardens are a great place where anyone can come to find out more about growing their own food in a changing climate. We cater for all abilities and welcome any nationality or age group.

Why not come and join us?

Would YOU like to volunteer at Windmill Community Gardens?

If you're free on Monday mornings any time between 10am - 1pm, or on a Thursday between 10am and 4pm, we'd love to welcome you to Windmill Community Gardens as a volunteer. No prior gardening knowledge or experience is necessary and we welcome anyone who is interested.

Our morning sessions are mainly about gardening, and our Thursday afternoon sessions give you the added chance to learn and use woodworking skills to help renovate and upkeep our wonderful site. We have all the tools you'll need and session workers who can help you learn new skills or work out how the skills you already have can complement the site.

And if you have health issues that mean you can't do heavy work, don't worry! We have lots of jobs which don't need muscles, like sowing seeds, painting signs, even using an app to see which birds we have in the garden at the moment - these are all activities that make a real difference! We try to cater for all abilities, so we have adapted tools and different kneeling and seating options to help people with strength. flexibility and stability issues, as well as an accessible loo!

On Thursdays, we provide a lunch, cooked on site, which you can help to prepare if you are interested in cooking, and in the Summer, we also have yoga sessions from 11am, which you can do in a chair, lying or standing so they are great for all abilities.

If you can't manage to come during the week, we still have options for volunteering at weekend workshops and events, so let us know and we can link you up with our up-coming dates. And if you have the kinds of skills that we might use to run a workshop, please let us know too!
